You know recently i heard that they, the people that like to remove all semblance of history from this generation, would like to remove the “N” word as some would call it from Mark Twains writings. Now don’t get me wrong i know that society says that it is wrong but the fact still remains history is history and always will be. Nothing you or I can do will change it we can only change the future. Now i also have issue with the word itself. How is it that one type of person can say a certain word and it is verbal abuse and derogatory then another, both delineated by skin color, say that word and it be alright? I am all for equal rights “We hold these truths to be self evident that all men were created equal, and endowed by
their creator with certain inalienable rights.” but there comes a point when i say why should i vow for equality for you when you practice inequality based on skin color. What am i talking about? I am talking about Blacks and whites and the “N” word. A white man or woman may call a person of black color a Ni**** and it is the worst thing that he could do, but the first thing you hear com out of a black mans mouth when two of them get in a fight is Ni****. How is it that society accepts this. A society that prides itself in Equal rights for all. Now i am not saying that all and maybe not even the majority of black people do this i have some very great black people for friends, and they are great but it stands to reason that if i have a basket with 8 apples in it. Six of them are sweet tasting, the majority of people in this world you just group the rest in with them and say well they are sweet too. You know nobody ever tells that the word was originally meant for a white man, and also the countless number of white slaves. I do know that there were a great majority of black slaves but does that mean that what happened to the white slaves is any less important. NO. Removing the word from Mark Twains writings would be a great a shame. Especially because of the symbolism of his books. The vast majority of American knows who he is and what he wrote. Removing that word would be like the Dutch removing the holocaust from history books. Which they did. Just because you cover it up does not mean that it did not happen, we should teach the subsequent generations to learn from the mistakes of others. Especially something as big as slavery one of the greatest issues of this country. Just like the holocaust was that of the Germans and Jews. SO i think that it would be a great shame to do so and i hope that they don’t.
